Canon 7D First Impressions: Looks really good.

I rented the Canon 7D DSLR Camera from Winnipeg Film Group a couple days ago. The camera came with a 50mm lens and a lens baby composer.

Here is some of the best stuff myself and Kayla took with it…

It really does shoot well in low light. Here is some footage from around 8 o’clock at night.

I understand why people are saying you need a dedicated focus puller to use these successfully: it’s very hard to focus while moving, because you need to be so exact. That being said, if you have a controlled situation, such as an interview where the subject is sitting down, there would be less concern.

I didn’t really try out the lens baby, but I’ll be renting the camera out again in a few weeks. Hopefully I’ll be able to try out some of the more in-depth features and get even better footage.
